Welcome to Week 9, Term 4, 2008.
Well the heat is on for Concert Practice. Both classes are working really hard on their items. We devoted the first session to practise yesterday. It should be a great night’s entertainment. Remember the Aussie Christmas Extravaganza is on next Monday night commencing at 7pm. Children have been asked to wear Christmas colours for the evening. Tshirts with a motif, green, red, white – anything Christmassy will be fine.
Items for a hamper to be drawn on the School Concert night 8th December. Donations anything “Christmassy” to go into the Hamper would be greatly appreciated. All donations can be left at the School Office. Your support Christmas Hamper/Multi-Draw Raffle is appreciated, with all proceeds going to benefit the children at Emu Creek State School.
The children went to Nobby for their swimming lessons today. Next Tuesday will be the last swimming lessons for the year.
Miss Fogwell will be conducting her interviews tomorrow and I will hold mine on Thursday. Letters went home yesterday to confirm times for the interviews. Interviews are at your request unless notified by the classroom teacher that an interview is required. Please ensure you jot down any points you may wish to discuss with the respective teacher. Report Cards will be handed out at the interviews or sent home Friday.
Thursday, the Prep-3 Christmas Luncheon will be held. Mrs Bellingham and the Prep-3 class have been working on menus and it should be delicious. Also on Thursday, Mrs Tonscheck will be at School from 11:15 to meet parents. Please avail yourself at this time if possible as she is keen to meet as many parents as possible. Mrs Tonscheck will be joining the Christmas Luncheon as well.
The Year 7 Graduation Dinner will be held at the Coffee House on Thursday Evening. I am looking forward to this special event. Parents and carers please ensure you have sent in or phoned through your RSVP for catering purposes. Invitations went home last week.
Friday, the Religion Concert will be held in the Prep-3 room at 9:15. All parents, carers and members of the community are welcome to attend. After the Concert, the whole School will be heading to Greenmount Hall for a rehearsal for the Concert. Monday the whole School will be at the Greenmount Hall between 9:15 and 2:30 for rehearsal with Mr Dowling for lighting and sound practise.
Thursday, 11th December will be the official Picnic Break Up Day. The P & C have kindly donated the food for the day. All parents, carers and members of the community are welcome to attend. There will be a Teachers/Carers v Students Cricket Match along with other exciting events throughout the day. Please bring a plate of food to share at Morning Tea on the day. Friday will be a clean-up day.
Congratulations to Samuel McKinnon who won the Year 5 colouring competition conducted by the Lions Club Toowoomba. Samuel was awarded his prize today at a special ceremony at Bendigo Bank. He received a $100 Savings Account and the P & C also received a $300 prize. Well done to Samuel.
Miss Fogwell received some exciting news yesterday. She has been appointed Prep-3 teacher at Westmar State School. She is very pleased with her appointment. Miss Fogwell has done an excellent job with her 4-7 charges this year and will be sorely missed by staff and students alike. I wish her well for 2009.
That’s it for this week. Enjoy the peace! Only just over 1 week to go before the Summer Vacation begins.
