Why choose our school?

Emu Creek is about relationships and connection.

In our school, children have a strong sense of connection.  They interact with children from all year groups and learn to relate to people of all ages.  They can make friends based on interests and play with any of their friends.  We do not limit students based on their year level.

Our students also enjoy a strong relationship with all staff members.  Our staff have a shared concern for student learning and well-being and work together to support every child.  Every child is known, and every child has grown!

Emu Creek is a close-knit family.  Research tells us that belonging to close-knit communities is vitally important in developing a child's resilience.  it is also a protective factor against mental health issues and bullying.  When children have a feeling of belonging, they can get on with the business of learning and growing.

At Emu Creek, staff closely monitor and track the learning development and wellbeing of your child.

Our small classes allow us to offer personalised instruction that is tailored to meet the learning needs of your child.  The low student to teacher ratio means the teacher has time to ensure your child's learning program is pitched at a level where they are challenged but feel safe and supported.  Our staff understand where the challenges lie and every challenge is addressed quickly.  This is how we help your child to grow every day.

Parent contact with the class teacher is easy.  Our staff greet you every afternoon in the pick-up area so that we can regularly communicate and keep you up-to-date with your child's progress.  In a small school, 'administrivia' doesn't get in the way and you don't have to wait for large, impersonal parent nights.

Emu Creek provides flexibility and a variety of opportunities in learning.

At Emu Creek, hands-on learning, collaborative learning and excursions are easy to organise and the learning outcomes are great.  Because we are a small school, our students have greater access and participation in instrumental music, technologies, Reader's Cup, school camps, excursions and much more.  In 2023, we will be introducing 3D printing in our technologies lessons.  Having small student groups means every student gets a turn - nobody misses out.

The staff at Emu Creek are a unique asset!

Our staff at Emu Creek go above and beyond every day to make sure that your child's schooling experience is the best it can possibly be.  They are an excellent team of experienced educators who work together so that they can have the greatest impact on learning outcomes.  They are confident, approachable and highly competent!  We are also very fortunate that our staff are all long-term, and permanent members of our school, likely to stay for an extended period of time.  This means that your child is surrounded by adults who have known them for a long time and are invested in their learning and wellbeing.

The partnership between parents and staff.

It's not just the students and teachers who enjoy Emu Creek.  Our parents love the high level of partnerships that they experience in our school.  There is a real sense of community and ownership.  If a parent wants to have input into decision-making, or they want to speak with the principal, they can.  In some schools, the principals can be more like a CEO.
